Stages of Emotional Healing

Someone recently asked me how to heal emotionally. What is the process? So here is my idea of what it takes (4 steps):


Awareness:

One first needs to know what is bothering them exactly, or even that something is bothering them. So many people ignore emotional distress and try and indulge in other distractions to avoid the pain that will come with becoming aware of it.


Acceptance:

Acknowledging that it is there. This stage is misunderstood by most. This is not where you necessarily recognize it as something to heal. But you just admit to the issue. Honoring your emotions, grieving your loss comes here. Once the emotion/issue has been accepted/lived/honored, one can potentially go to the next step.


Will to heal:

This is optional. A preference of “being victim” or passivity can and does stop many from reaching this stage. This is when you personally decide that it doesn't matter what brought you to this current situation, but you need to get out of this dark place. you may not know at this point how you will do it, but as soon as this step is reached, universe guides you seamlessly towards healing.


Healing:

This is a long drawn spiral path. It has many sub-stages. You may even need to go through previous ones again. But every cycle will bring you more and more peace, understanding, forgiveness, and healing. It is all about patience. and self care, self love.
